Mightier than the sword: smart pens and smart phones help maintain target blood glucose levels 27 September 2021 Smart insulin pens are an exciting new area of diabetes technology and a new study of Medtronic’s InPen has demonstrated how the pens are helping users improve their glucose management. One study, recently published by the American Diabetes Association, tracked the data of over 1500 people over almost three years and found that using a smart insulin pen helped people keep their blood glucose levels within their target range for longer. In some cases by more than an hour a day. The study also noted declines in hypoglycaemia amongst participants.
